Chelsea increase efforts to sign pair

Chelsea will step up their efforts to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in order to smooth over tensions with manager Antonio Conte, reports Off the Post.

The ex-Juventus manager, who won the Premier League at the first time of asking with The Pensioners, has reportedly grown disgruntled at Stamford Bridge due to the lack of transfer activity so far.

Following an initial bid that was turned down by Juventus, Chelsea are set to return with a club-record £55m bid for Brazilian international Sandro, with him seen as a replacement for left wing-back Marcos Alonso.

They are also looking to add some firepower up front, with Conte allegedly wanting rid of forward Deigo Costa.

French international Bakayoko has been earmarked as a replacement, with a bid to set to be around the £40m mark, according to reports.

The pair would form a trio should Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero be brought in to the west-London club, too.
