Chelsea meet representatives in crunch talks for Alex Sandro

Chelsea have met with representatives in Italy over the possibility of bringing Juventus defender Alex Sandro to Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Star.

The Brazilian left-back – who can also operate as a wing-back – has been on the Blues radar for some time, with a rumoured offer of a club record of £61m set to be put on the table by the reining Premier League champions.

Their boss Antonio Conte was thought to have hit a brick wall earlier last week, though, as reports emerged that the Serie A had offered the 26-year-old Sandro a sizeable contract extension.

This has all changed, with Chelsea representatives flying out to Turin for crunch talks as they look to hammer out a deal and would both appease former Juventus boss Conte and bring in a player who would surely strengthen the Pensioners left-hand-side – a position which manager Conte feels tightening up in order to go for a second consecutive league title.
