Exclusive: Chelsea and PSG on red alert as Inter tell Handanovic he can leave

Inter Milan have told Slovenian international goalkeeper Samir Handanovic that he can leave the club. The 32-year-old custodian has been frustrated at his lack of opportunities to play Champions League football with the Nerazzurri and Calciomercato.com’s Matteo Serra writes that he could be one of the surprise names to leave the San Siro this summer. The club needs to find €30M by the end of the month to fall into line with Financial Fair-Play regulations and it could be that the sale of Handanovic could solve that particular problem.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to have already made contact with the Italian side about the players availability and there could also be interest from the Premier League with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte a huge admirer of the custodian. The champions were heavily linked last summer as talk about Thibaut Courtois’s departure gathered pace. When the Belgian international decided to stay at Stamford Bridge however, the interest ended but after reports on Saturday that the 25-year-old will not sign a new deal unless his current salary is doubled, Conte may be ready to re-ignite his interest.

Inter are understood to have alternatives already lined up with exciting young Udinese keeper Alex Meret and Genoa’s Mattia Perin both at the top of sporting director Piero Ausilio’s wish-list.
