Chelsea star claims team 'passed a test' with Champions League win

Alvaro Morata claims that Chelsea passed “a big test” to beat Atletico Madrid.

The former Juventus man was very happy with the Pensioners, who now face Manchester City on Saturday. This season didn’t start very well under Antonio Conte, the Blues losing their Premier League opener to Burnley 3-2 at home.

“It was a really important win for us, a big test,” said Morata.

“Atletico Madrid were in the Champions League final a few years ago and now we can go home relaxed and put this mentality into the Premier League.”

The Spaniard joined Chelsea this summer for a massive €65 million, and some were skeptical that he would not succeed because of the limited playing time he got at Real Madrid.

“It is always a good feeling to score the first goal in a new stadium. I am very happy.

“It is great to play with a player like Eden Hazard. He is one of the best in the world and I am very lucky to play with him.

“I am happy with my start but the most important thing is the team and winning the game.”
