Chelsea target pens new deal at Roma - the details

Still to announce who their new coach will be, Roma Sporting Director Monchi continues to tie down some of the club’s stand-out players. After the recent renewals of Kevin Strootman and Daniele De Rossi, comes news this morning that the Giallorossi have found an agreement with Greek centre-back Kostas Manolas.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via calciomercato.com) the 25-year-old, who has been one of the clubs most consistent performers over the past two seasons, will sign an extension to his current deal which expires in 2019. This new agreement will also see the player’s salary jump from €1.8M-a-season to €3M net per-annum plus bonus and there is expected to be a release clause contained in this.

Manolas has been the subject of intense transfer speculation with both Chelsea and Inter reportedly vying for his signature. The player himself recently stated that he was loving life in the Italian capital and whilst this new deal may not confine those transfer rumours to history, it certainly shows his commitment to the club.
