Chelsea linked with sensational move for Lewandowski

Chelsea have been linked with a sensational move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The 28-year-old Polish international is understood to be disappointed by the German side’s performance last season despite retaining the Bundesliga title and according to Fox Sports, Blues boss Antonio Conte may try to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

With Diego Costa no longer part of the Italian’s plans, reports have suggested that Belgian international Romelu Lukaku is the favourite to replace him with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata close behind. Chelsea however are reluctant to meet Everton’s £100M asking price for the former and face stiff competition from Manchester United for the latter.

Lewandowski is under contract with Bayern until 2021 and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich knows it won’t be easy to convince the Germans to part with their star striker who bagged 43 goals last season in all competitions.

The player’s agent, Maik Barthel has given hope however after telling Kicker that; “Robert told me that he got no support and that the coach gave no call to help him in the last game to win the top-scorer title. He was disappointed as I have never seen him before. He really hoped that the team would support him proactively.”
