Chelsea very confident they can nab Tiemoue Bakayoko amid Man United interest

Chelsea remain confident that they can sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko amid interest from their Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho looked to hijack the deal after the noise surrounding Nemanja Matic has died down. But the West London reigning Premier League champions Chelsea are still confident on getting the deal over the line, and hope that the 22-year-old will be at Stamford Bridge very soon.

The Red Devils, it is thought, were willing to pay £40m for the French international, while Chelsea were refusing to budge on their initial £37m offer.

That offer by the Blues, despite not being officially accepted by the Ligue 1 champions, was set get the ball rolling but Bakayoko required knee surgery which ultimately held up the transfer.

The Frenchman is said to favour a move to Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford, but Chelsea are still yet to meet his sides’ transfer valuation, resulting in a stalemate.
