Christian Pulisic accomplished something only Messi and Neymar had

Among the numerous, deserved, accolades Christian Pulisic will receive over the next week for his explosive performance in Saturday’s Der Klassiker, ESPN’s Paul Carr may have unearthed the most impressive.

According to his research, the American teenager did something no one in the Bundesliga had this year.

Christian Pulisic's 14 one-v-ones and 8 successful one-v-ones vs Bayern are both the most by any player in a Bundesliga game this season.

More impressively, however, the 19-year-old accomplished something only Neymar and Messi have.

In Europe's top five leagues, three players have attempted 14+ one-v-ones in a game this season:

Consider, for a moment, that while Neymar and Messi accomplished those feats against inferior competition, Mr. Pulisic accomplished it against SUPERIOR competition. One day, volumes will be written about how the US Men’s National Team wasted their brightest player’s opportunity to shine on the grandest stage of all.
