Conte gives Chelsea dressing room a 'dressing down'

Antonio Conte is reported to have torn into the Chelsea squad after their midweek loss to Roma.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Italian had a go at the entire squad, as well as certain individuals after the Blues went down with all hands at the Stadio Olimpico (3-0).

Things have been complicated enough for the Blues as it is, with reports that owner Roman Abramovich won’t even speak to Conte, something Marca indicated has happened to each Chelsea coach to be fired under his tenure.

The Telegraph revealed that Conte ripped into defender Kenedy for yawning during his speech, while David Luiz was also reprimanded for reacting badly to a substitution in the reverse fixture, when Chelsea drew with Roma 3-3.

The Blues are now in a situation where they might not even be sure to make it to the next round, and even if they do, they are very likely not to win their Group, leaving them potentially facing the likes of Barcelona in the Round of 16.

The Telegraph had revealed a fortnight ago that Conte had doubts about his players’ attitude.

The players are reported not to have complained when Conte asked for a marked improvement ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Man United. The Blues are already twelve points behind leaders Manchester City.
