Conte wants Foxes star for his summer revamp at Chelsea

Reports in the London Evening Standard claim that Chelsea are monitoring the situation regarding Algerian play-maker Riyad Mahrez. The 26-year-old is set to leave Leicester City this summer having already told the clubs chairman of his intention. He recently stated that; “I had a good discussion with the Chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League. However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience."

Now the time to leave has arrived, the player who was so instrumental in leading the Foxes to their historic Premier League triumph, has many suitors around Europe. Along with Chelsea, Arsenal are also huge admirers of the player but their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League has made a move to The Emirates unlikely.

Having missed out on Napoli frontman Dries Mertens, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has identified Mahrez as a possible summer target with the Italian tactician reportedly desperate to add another wide player to his squad for next term.
