Del Piero reveals ‘one surprising thing’ about Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Juventus from Real Madrid for around €110m in July, leaving the Spanish capital in a deal dubbed the ‘transfer of the century’. Ronaldo has settled in well in Turin and has brought his high intensity attacking game and superb shooting ability to Serie A. Not only this but Ronaldo’s move to Italy has boosted the status of Serie A and many more stars are touted to make the switch from England or Spain.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Juventus legend and former captain Alessandro Del Piero, praised Ronaldo but not for his finishing ability:

“When one scores with an empty goal, the contribution of who made the assist it is at least 80%. Cristiano was very good, because when he arrived the ball gave the feeling of being able to already turn. This is the error of the defender, because he was inside the area and could not even risk a half-foul. In that gesture there is all the athleticism, the technique and the intelligence of Ronaldo, he immediately put himself in the position to create danger to the opposing defence.”
