Deportivo want Boro, Arsenal players in double swoop

Deportivo La Coruna are very interested in Middlesbrough goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to reports from Spain.

La Voz de Galicia claim that the former Barcelona goalkeeper is being pursued by the Liga side, who are also planning a splash for former striker Lucas Perez.

While Valdes has at least been successful in England, Middlesbrough were relegated, persuading him to opt for a return to Spain, which he sees as the best possible option.

For his part, Lucas Perez played for a (relatively) successful team, but has struggled to put together even a dozen starts in all competitions, still scoring seven times for Arsenal.

While it would be a return to Perez, Valdes would be playing for his first Spanish side not named Barcelona, whom he represented from 2002 to 2014.

Deportivo need to find a replacement for Argentinian goalkeeper German Lux, who isn’t renewing his current deal, and see the veteran Valdes (who is 35) as the ideal name for the short term.
