Benfica have revealed how Barcelona paid for Nelson Semedo, who joined the Catalan outfit this past summer for a fee in the region of 30 million euros.

Benfica Luis Felipe Vieira revealed the club’s official details of transfer transactions that involved the Portuguese club on the club’s official websites recently. One of the transfers he spoke about what that of Semedo’s to Nou Camp.

Vieira took full advantage of his appearance in front of television cameras to talk about why the club, despite selling some of its players, hasn’t managed to reduce its debt in any way possible. One of the reasons is that a lot of transfer fees haven’t been paid fully and will be paid in installments. He gave the example of Semedo to illustrate it.

He said: "He (Semedo) was sold for 30 million and for every 50 games Benfica receives another five million. The 30 million will be received over the next two years.”
