Diawara betrays Ancelotti but Napoli won’t sell him to AC Milan

A useless yellow, a colourless test and another wasted opportunity. The performance of Amadou Diawara against Chievo brought back the doubts of Napoli on the young midfielder. Ancelotti deployed Diawara instead of Hamsik yesterday with a specific task to direct the operations of the team in the middle of the field. Mission failed and a feeling that Diawara has never fully adapted to the size and dynamics of Napoli.

The effect is transmitted on the market and on the astronomical evaluation of De Laurentiis made in the summer: 50 million euros after Tottenham offered 38 million and it was refused by the Partenopei. There is little chance of Diawara accepting a move on loan in order to find continuity and quality, not to forget the interest from the Premier League (above all Wolverhampton) and AC Milan.

However, this is not the line programmed by sporting director Giuntoli and the club. The idea is not to deprive the team of the midfielder if not outright and to an offer of at least 35 to 40 million. The hypothesis of a temporary separation in January is also heavily compromised by the intentions of Napoli as regards the incoming market.

De Laurentiis recently confirmed that the idea is to operate at a minimum and no interventions are planned in the midfield. The Azzurri do not want to let go of the player who represents the only alternative to Hamsik in the department. There is confidence in Diawara at least until the end of the season, but if the player does not improve, Napoli risk a situation in which he will e held in a 50 million cage.
