Dier to Man Utd? Pochettino reveals past talks with Mourinho

Eric Dier is a long time target of Manchester United and José Mourinho and Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed it in an autobiography. This past December Pochettino saw Mourinho and Dier talking together right after the game between Tottenham and Manchester United.

“I saw them talking in front of the dressing room. It could have put Dier in a difficult position, especially because that happen after a defeat”, Pochettino says in the autobiography written by Guillem Balangue quoted by Spanish paper AS.

“I asked him [Dier] if he was a friend of Mourinho and he told me that they knew each other and that they were talking about personal issues.”

“He [Dier] told me Man Utd wanted to sign me”, Pochettino says.

“However I told him that he could have not joined the Red Devils because he had just signed a contract extension with Tottenham and he had still five years left in his contract. He was and he is important for us so I would have not been allowed to leave.”
