Director: Barca still interested in Verratti

Barcelona are still interested in signing Marco Verratti, if sporting director Robert Fernandez is anything to go by.

“We still have time [to sign him]. We’re pursuing our objectives with great care,” he said at a recent press conference (via Sport).

“If we get a chance we’ll try to take it, but it’s not easy to sign a player who has a deal with an elite team”.

Barcelona were reported by Don Balon to want to sell someone (either Ivan Rakitic or Andre Gomes) to finance the sale, with AC Milan particularly close and interested to the Croatian.

Verratti was photographed earlier this summer in Ibiza, where he is alleged to have met with Lionel Messi.

Despite the contrary opinion of club legends like Xavi, the Italian wants to try to force a move, which included holding a copy of El Mundo Deportivo to be photographed. The front page ran with the story of him moving to the Camp Nou.
