€35m Spurs midfielder opens door to departure

Moussa Sissoko isn’t closing the door on a return to Ligue 1.

The 27-year-old was linked to Marseille recently, despite his agent’s repeated denials.

“A return to Ligue 1? Even if everyone knows I prefer England, I’ve never closed the door on Ligue 1,” Sissoko told L’Equipe.

“We’ll see if there are any offers, but Ligue 1 remains attractive.

“We’d seen it this year with PSG and Monaco, but also with teams like Nice, Lyon or Marseille.”

The 27-year-old has only made eight Premier League starts this season, struggling to justify a €35 million transfer fee last summer.

“I met Andoni Zubizarreta and Basile Boli at Toulouse’s eightieth anniversary, we said hello, but we didn’t say anything in particular,” the French international continued.

“Did I call Patrice Evra to get information? Maybe my phone is being tapped! [laughs].

“We talk from time to time but, on that subject, there’s nothing special to say.”

Speaking to the French press, Sissoko’s agent said that all the speculation was “just rumours. We’ve heard the talk. But so far, there’s been no contact with moussa, nor between his agents and Marseille.
