As reported by SkySports, after 13 years from the time of his farewell, when he was no more than a kid, Wayne Rooney is ready to go home a man. The former captain of Manchester United, in fact, is one step away from the club of his youth, Everton. This is the club that he has been playing with since he was a child and with whom he has started his Premier League career. The English striker arrived this afternoon at the Toffees training center, where in the next few hours his medical examinations will be held to confirm the officiality of his return.

For Everton, one striker departs for Manchester, Lukaku, who has left Everton for the Red Devils, there is another who will take the reverse course. And Rooney, after 14 years, has decided to go home. The capture for the Toffees is more than a simple player transfer. The return of an English hero after a successful career also represents a symbolic moment for both the player and club, who can mutually benefit on multiple levels after the transfer. It is certain though, there will be some emotional moments forthcoming, knowing football can provide both sentimental drama and sporting drama at the same time.
