Everton told to raise their offer for Icelandic star

Everton’s pursuit of Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson will cost the club more than the £30M they had been expecting to pay for the player. The Sun reports that Swansea City have told the Toffees to up their offer if they want to take the 27-year-old to Goodison Park this summer.

The Welsh side are making life as difficult as possible for Ronald Koeman with chairman Huw Jenkins stating last week that it would take a mega-money bid to lure him away from South Wales. Jenkins explained that; “It’s hard to suggest what sort of value Gylfi has in today’s market but to us he is priceless and we’ve got to make sure we do everything in our power to make sure he stays.”

Having already spent nearly £60M on summer reinforcements including England Under-21 goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Dutch midfielder Davy Klaassen, Koeman may have to take his spending over the £100M mark to bring the Iceland international to Merseyside.
