Ex-Chelsea and AC Milan striker Crespo blasts Higuain critics

Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport on the day of his appointment as the new coach at Banfield and addressed the criticism targeted at Milan's Gonzalo Higuain in the recent weeks.

"Criticizing the qualities of Higuain is like blaspheming. You cannot do that, do not do it. He scored wherever he was, you will see that even with Milan he will recover. I have never seen a striker who scores so much without the team giving him the opportunity to do it," Crespo said.

"I can only say that Higuain has played at Real Madrid, Napoli and Juventus. He has international experience, he cannot have stopped suddenly. He should be stimulated, if anything, must find the joy that, for each striker, is gasoline when he is in the opponent's penalty area.

"I will give a little suggestion to the fans since I have been through a similar situation: do not criticize him, but support him in the long run, the affection produces positive sparks, I guarantee it," he concluded.
