21.30 - Calciomercato.com has exclusively learned that Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande have signed Atletico Madrid flop Jackson Martinez for a fee in the region € 45 million.
The Colombian striker joined the Calderon last summer from Liga Sagres giants Porto for € 35 million but has been struggling with playing time this term as he only netted two goals in 15 La Liga games.
Before completing Atletico switch, Martinez had been close to signing with Milan (the two parties had already found economic agreement), but the player’s agent changed his mind and convinced his client to sign with Los Colchoneros instead.
Former Chelsea boss Felipe Scolari, who’s now in charge of Guangzhou Evergrande would be more than happy to welcome the 29-year-old services.
The Chinese side won last year’s Asian Champions League and can register new players for this year’s edition of the tournament until February 13.
