Exclusive: EPL clubs rival Man United in hunt for Atletico transfer guru Berta

Manchester United aren’t the only Premier League club who are chasing Atletico Madrid director of sport Andrea Berta, according to a key source.

Often linked with Manchester United as a replacement for the bumbling Ed Woodward, Berta, a former banker, has earned plaudits for constantly providing Atletico Coach Diego Simeone with fresh talent, whether it was replacing Thibault Courtois with Jan Oblak, or Joao Miranda with Jose Gimenez.

Now, Dario Canovi - a major player on the transfer market -  exclusively told CM’s Fabrizio Romano that many big clubs are after Berta.

Asked about the possibility of Diego Simeone moving to Inter, Canovi dropped Berta into the conversation, the Italian being El Cholo’s sporting director at Atletico.

“[Recruiting Berta with Simeone] would be an excellent idea, a plausible and logical scenario were Simeone to want to move to Milan.

“It won’t be easy, however, believe me: the best clubs in the world want Berta, the Premier League elite especially, not just Manchester United”.

“Recruiting him would be the sign that Inter want to get back to winning ways. He’s out of this world, he’s been obtaining results and making money at Atletico for years, he’s made miracles”.
