Exclusive: Inter probe Fiorentina for star winger

Inter have probed Fiorentina for star winger Federico Chiesa, we can exclusively reveal.

The young 19-year-old has scored four goals and made two assists in all competitions, playing an increasingly important role despite his young age. He's already attracted interest from all over Italy, including Napoli.

The son of former Italy striker Enrico Chiesa, he is the kind of wing player who would be a fine addition to the Nerazzurri, and isn’t as expensive as Federico Bernardeschi.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio has met nothing but opposition from Fiorentina, and there doesn’t look to be an opening so far. The Viola’s own DS, Pantaleo Corvino, has been categorical in his refusals on Chiesa.

With so many players leaving - Federico Bernardeschi and Borja Valero, not to mention Coach Paulo Sousa - the situation would deteriorate rapidly if someone like Chiesa also jumped ship, especially seeing as Valero could be going to the San Siro himself.

Keeping Chiesa is a priority for the Viola, but Ausilio hasn’t given up. He’s countered, asking to “reserve” Chiesa for next season. The reaction has been a chilly one, but the Nerazzurri want an option on the youngster.

That could get things moving...
