Exclusive: latest Joao Mario updates amid Man Utd links

Inter lost their first game of the season yesterday but one of the nerazzurri’s biggest problems is not in the pitch but on the bench. The Serie A giants want to sell Joao Mario in the January transfer window because the Portuguese is out of Spalletti’s technical project.

Our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano confirms Inter are looking for clubs willing to acquire the Portugal International in the January transfer window.

Trouble is, Joao Mario joined Inter in summer 2015 for € 45 and his salary is € 6 million-a-year (gross of taxes). The nerazzurri want to sell the player but don’t want to sell him on the cheap especially because they will only be allowed to make new signings if they will sell some of their players first.

Inter are still due to respect the Financial Fair Play and they will only be allowed to make new signings spending the money of sales.

The first step is the sale of Joao Mario who has been linked with a move to Manchester United. A swap deal with Henrikh Mkhytarian, however, is not likely to happen because there is too much gap in terms of formulas and costs between the two clubs. Joao Mario is available in the market, Inter are now only waiting for the right offer.
