EXCLUSIVE: Napoli open transfer talks with Klaassen, Southampton target Dries Mertens set for extension
Klaassen, 23, is a quality central midfielder who can also play as trequartista. Napoli have been following him since January though Ajax had seemed not eager to sell the talented Dutch footballer.
The Lancers, however, are not so inflexible over the player’s departure now and are ready to sell their star for an offer in the region of € 20-25 million. Napoli have put € 16 million on the table plus bonuses and the purpose of a meeting with the player’s agent is knowing whether Klaassen would agree a move to Napoli.
According to our sources Napoli have also offered Mertens a contract extension until 2020 (with pay rise). The Belgium International had been linked with a move to Southampton in the summer, but signing a new contract would put an end to all speculations regarding his future.
