EXCLUSIVE Romano: The three goalkeepers on Inter’s shortlist for the post-Handanovic era

Sami Handanovic wants to leave Inter. The Slovenia International wants to play Champions League football and Inter will be looking for suitors willing to pay at least € 15 million to secure the player’s services.

CM.com’s transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter have shortlisted three goalkeepers who could kick off the post-Handanovic era and, oddly enough, Genoa goalie Mattia Perin is not included in the list.

The number one choice of the Nerazzurri would be Atalanta’s Marco Sportiello. The 23-year-old played the first two top-flight seasons of his career with La Dea, resulting one of the best goalkeepers of the league. Trouble is, Napoli have an option to sign him as the partenopei would like Sportiello to become Pepe Reina’s heir at the San Paolo.

Italy International Salvatore Sirigu is another name written in capital letters on Piero Ausilio’s agenda. We’ve already reported that Inter and PSG could be pondering a player-plus cash swap deal involving their two unhappy goalkeepers: Sirigu and Handanovic (Inter would also get € 10 million cash).

The last name is Barcelona’s second-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. Believe to be also a target of Manchester City, the German shot-stopper won’t be offered a contract extension at Barcelona and is probably the most expensive choice in the list, in turn the less likely.

It’s worth adding that despite Handanovic’s will to leave the club and Inter’s need of fresh cash, the Slovenia International’s future is not decided yet. The 31-year-old has recently extended his deal with Inter and could only move if a club playing Champions League football will actually put a concrete offer on the table.
