Exclusive: Why Inter can't sign two of their January targets

Inter are unlikely to sign either Javier Pastore or Jose Gimenez in January, we can exclusively report.

Fabrizio Romano reveals that it has a lot to do with former player Diego Simeone.

The Nerazzurri are doing better than expected in Serie A, and are currently third with nine wins and three draws, but could suffer down the road if they don’t fix their depth.

Pastore is very much liked at Inter, but the idea of an exchange with Joao Mario is not, we reveal, that simple. The two sides can’t agree on the values of the two. Pastore hasn’t played many games over the last two seasons through injury, but has already scored two Ligue 1 goals this time around.

Threatened by the arrival of Neymar, the 28-year-old is being slated for a departure, but finding a club may not be that simply.

The Nerazzurri also need a centre-back, but getting Gimenez - who has fallen out of favour with Simeone - will be difficult because he’s too expensive, having a rumoured release clause of 60 million.

The other idea is that of signing Thomas, a young centre midfielder, but both Andrea Berta and Simeone don’t want to let him go.
