Five Reasons why Morata will go to Milan

With Chelsea quitting the race for Alvaro Morata, the Real Madrid striker finds himself in limbo.

Having seen his move to Manchester United go up in flames once the Red Devils splurged 75 million on Romelu Lukaku, the 24-year-old has gone from being a primetime Champions League goalscorer for Juventus to a substitute at Real Madrid, one who barely got more than a dozen Liga starts last season.

With Milan actually agreeing to a salary with him before Man United went on the attack, the Rossoneri are now back in the picture. Below are five reasons why the former Juve darling could move to Milan after all.
  1. He actually wants to leave
Morata wants to play an important role, and starting only 19 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid doesn’t quite cut it.

  1. The World Cup
The Spaniard wants to star for La Furia Roja as he did at Euro 2016, where he scored three goals and formed a nice partnership with Nolito. With Diego Costa likely to return to Atletico, he is set to play a major role, one which Morata probably won’t have at the Santiago Bernabeu.
  1. Real would make a tidy profit
While selling to Manchester United was reportedly only going to happen for 90 million, the 70m offered by the Rossoneri would still enable Real Madrid to make a 40m profit, a heck of a profit for the man they bought back from the Bianconeri for 30m.

  1. He wouldn’t play Champions League football
While Morata came back and bit Real Madrid on the backside when he was at Juventus - scoring twice against them in the Champions League - he wouldn’t be able to do so next season as a Rossonero, because Milan only finished last season in sixth place.
  1. He’d return to his old stomping grounds
Morata was a star in Italy. Despite preferring the Premier League, the striker made a name for himself in Italy, where he was respected as an all-round striker. The chance to return and play in Serie A would be great, especially for his Italian wife, Alice…
