Real Madrid president Florentino Perez spoke after Luka Modric’s Ballon d’Or win yesterday night.
 
Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t attend the cerermony and was voted as the second best player of 2018.
 
Speaking to media after the award, the Merengues’ president said: “Modric has been one of the best players in the world for the last few years. Everybody says Ronaldo is still the best but I think Modric deserved to win the award this season. He’s done extraordinary things, he was decisive from the beginning of the year until the very end.”
 
“When we signed him in 2012 we knew he had the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.”
