FOCUS: paying €16 million for Perisic was a good deal for Inter

How much can a footballer’s transfer fee influence his performances? At Inter Milan, many players are asking themselves such question. Geoffrey Kondogbia –often criticized because of the €31 million paid by the nerazzurri to buy him from Monaco- is one of them. Moreover, this has happened –at least in the first half of the season- to Ivan Perisic too.

The Croatian winger was –as well as Kondogbia himself- one of the two signings on permanent deal of the nerazzurri during the last transfer window: to obtain the 27-year-old, the Lombard club paid €16 million to Wolfsburg, and in his first appearances, Perisic had many difficulties with his new team. Finally, the Croat has become a cornerstone of Roberto Mancini’s team.

Perisic, as well as his compatriot Marcelo Brozovic, is the only player able to assure verticality to his team. Moreover, the winger seems to have made a further step in yesterday’s game against Verona: not only a goal and an assist, but also an incredibly high percentage of successful passes.
