Fonseca expects ‘difficult’ game against Sampdoria

Italian Serie A giants AS Roma’s manager Paulo Fonseca has revealed that he is expecting a tough contest in their next match against Sampdoria.

The Rome-based club will face the Blucerchiati in their eighth league fixture on Sunday, and while talking to the media on the eve of the match, Fonseca reveals that he is expecting a feisty battle because of the opponent and also because of the bad weather.

"I expect a difficult game,” he said. “Roma have won only two of their last ten trips to Genoa and this shows how complicated it is. They have changed the manager and the weather is expected to be bad as well. These are the circumstances which make us understand the difficulty of this tie.”

Sampdoria, who are currently on the bottom of the league table with just three points from seven matches, will go in the match with a new manager Claudio Ranieri who was the manager of the Giallorossi before the arrival of Fonseca.

While talking about the potential impact of the 67-year-old on La Samp, the 46-year-old expressed his opinion that the former Leicester City manager is the right man to take the home side in tomorrow’s match out of this situation.

"It must be said that he [Ranieri] is a great and experienced coach,” he said. “I am sure he is the right man to take Sampdoria forward and he will try to give defensive stability. Therefore, I expect a complicated match against a compact team.”
