Former Barcelona player arrested for Cockfighting

Ex-Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon player Fabio Rochemback was recently arrested by authorities because of cockfighting. Police seemingy seized 89 roosters and over 30 000 euros in live cash. This occured in Brazil as coackfighting is now illegal. Rochemback was a Brazilian national team player as he particpated in the 2001 Copa America as well as in a confederations cup with Brazil. He already had issues with the police back in 2011 as he will now have to respond to the authorities on the matter. His father denied that his son was present during this cockfighting event but this remains to be seen...

The 35 year old was known for his physical style of play on the pitch as he was a very bulky midfielder. Other than Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon, the Brazilian also played for Middlesbrough and Gremio as well as Dalian Aerbin (in the Cinese Super league). He retired from football in 2014.
