Former Cardiff man on his way out at Inter

Inter want to get rid of Gary Medel, according to the latest reports.

New Coach Luciano Spalletti wants more quality in his midfield, and the former Cardiff man doesn’t fit into the mould.

Acquired from the Championship side in 2014 for 8 million, the Chilean is respected for his grit and dynamism. An average passer, however, the former Sevilla enforcer was still given the green light to discuss a new deal with Inter at the end of last season.

Things have changed now that Luciano Spalletti is in the driver’s seat: the new Nerazzurri Coach wants someone with brains to play alongside Roberto Gagliardini, namely Borja Valero and Luiz Gustavo.

Medel is also criticised for struggling to read the game and anticipate things quickly, something evident when he was asked to play at centre-back last season.

Medel has played 91 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri, scoring one goal.
