Former Serie A referee insists VAR could have saved Juventus

Former Italian football referee Graziano Cesari believes that, had Michael Oliver been able to consult VAR, Juventus could still be in the UEFA Champions League.

The English referee awarded Real Madrid a contentious penalty in the last minute of tonight’s quarter-final tie, infuriating Bianconeri players, coaching staff and directors in the process. Indeed, Cesari does not believe Los Blancos merited a penalty and echoed Andrea Agnelli’s calls for VAR to be introduced in European competition.
