Fresh boost for Juventus as Real Madrid star can leave this summer

Juventus have been on the trail of Real Madrid left-back Marcelo ever since they signed his Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo from the La Liga side last summer. Ronaldo completed a €110m move from Spain to Italy and it was thought that Marcelo would follow suit to join his friend and teammate in Turin.

Reports in the past few months, however, suggested that he might be staying with Real Madrid, especially after Zinedine Zidane was re-appointed as head coach. However, the latest reports from fichajes.net suggest that Marcelo may be allowed to leave Real Madrid in the summer, due to his age (at 31) and the disappointing season just gone.

Juventus may, therefore, opt to pursue a deal for Marcelo, utilising the connection of Cristiano Ronaldo to help get the deal over the line.
