AS Roma star defender Kostas Manolas has been ruled out from Greek’s World Cup qualifying game against Croatia by FIFA.

The former Olympiacos star picked up an intentional yellow card in Greece’s World Cup qualifying game against Gibraltar some weeks ago. FIFA have, now imposed a ban on the defender and he will now miss the 1st leg of the play-off round game against the Croatians.

The 26-year-old has impressed for the Giallorossi this season, making nine appearances in all competitions and racking up a tally of a single goal in the league as well.

It isn’t just for the club that Manolas has been an important figure for about three seasons now, but he is an important player for the Greek national side as well, guiding them to play-off round of next year’s World Cup in Russia.

Greece will have a golden opportunity to make it to yet another World Cup when they lock horns with Croatia, with the first leg set to be played on the ninth of November in Croatia itself.
