Higuain in line for Argentina call-up after Aguero injury

Higuain in line for Argentina call-up after Aguero injury

Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain hopes to be given a call-up to Argentina national team in the incoming International break.

La Seleccion boss Jorge Sampaoli dropped Higuain for the last games  played by Argentina but the recent injury of Sergio Aguero means there could be a new opportunity for the 29-year-old.

Aguero was involved in a car accident in Amsterdam yesterday night and will be forced out of action for two months with two broken ribs.

Argentina are due to face Ecuador and Peru in two vital World Cup qualifiers and Higuain hopes to be part of the team that will play on the 6th and on the 11th of October.

Higuain has three goals in nine games in all competitions so far this season and was benched by Max Allegri in the last two games against Torino and Olympiacos.

This past Wednesday, however, Higuain came off the bench to score the winner for Juve against the Greek side in their second Champions League game of the season. Will it be enough to fill the boots of Aguero in Argentina?
