Icardi: a more important player than Kane, Dybala and Messi

With 13 goals scored in 13 league matches so far this season, Mauro Icardi has been absolutely crucial to Inter’s unbeaten start to the campaign. With 4 penalties, three headers, 10 in San Siro, four braces and one hat-trick, the Argentine has scored 52% of the 25 goals scored by the team. That ratio makes him more important to the Nerazzurri than Robert Lewandowksi, Harry Kane, Radamel Falcao, Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala and Dries Mertens are to their respective clubs.

Encouragingly, via social media, the former Sampdoria striker reaffirmed his commitment to Inter with this cheeky comment in response to a fan asking him to score a goal on December 9th: “What happens on the 9th, the match against Juve? Wonderful, I thought it was the 10th, which is Wanda’s birthday, so we can celebrate it at home.” He then added: “I don’t care about how much I am worth, I want to become a symbol of this club.”
