Icardi out with a right knee sprain, could miss Roma clash

Inter have had another spanner thrown into their spokes tonight, with reports emerging that Mauro Icardi has a right knee sprain. The former Barcelona and Sampdoria striker had to leave the Nerazzurri's Serie A Matchday 29 tie against Bologna at the San Siro eleven minutes in, after he tried to latch onto an Eder cross, with the goal gaping.

Though he's flattered to deceive this season, Icardi has netted 12 goals in Serie A action so far, and the Nerazzurri will now have to depend on Italo-Brazilian team-mate Eder, who has yet to score with his new club.

It would be an understatement to say that the Beneamata is worried, with Coach Roberto Mancini immediately walking towards his striker to ask him if he felt ok. So far, Inter have only reported that the 23-year-old has a knee sprain, though his injury will require further inspection in the coming days.

The Nerazzurri are going to keep their fingers crossed, and hope that Icardi can be back either for next Saturday's trip to Rome, or at least for the final sprint, for a Champions League spot.
