    OPINION: If you were Conte, would you have chosen Italy or Chelsea?

    It is easy to criticize Antonio Conte now and it might be even easier to pin the blame on him after Italy’s EURO 2016 failure. People are going to accuse him of not having had the situation under control because he already knew he would have left his job, like if it is normal to waste such an important chance for his career.

    There is no shadow of a doubt Conte has already considered this risk, but we’d like everyone to put themselves  in the manager’s shoes. The former Juventus tactician did not obtained what he has been asking for during his time as Italy boss: no stages and no collaboration with club teams at all.

    We knew from our direct experience it would have end up like this, because that’s the way it works in Italy but also in most of other European countries. But that’s not the point, that’s not the main reason of Conte’s decision.

    The main reason is an offer coming from such an important club like Chelsea. A very rich club, a club with extraordinary international experience. One of the best clubs in the world, playing in the most fascinating league in the world and in the best stadiums too.

    That’s why we want to put ourselves in Antonio Conte’s shoes and ask you: would you have preferred Italy over Chelsea? Or, just to put it in another way, would you have accept Carlo Tavecchio or Roman Abramovich's offer?
