Inter: Blitz on Argentina for Acuña

Argentine ace catches the attention of Nerazzurri

Chief Inter scout Massimiliano Mirabelli has been bowled over by Marcos Javier Acuña of Racing Avellaneda during his recent scouting trip to South America. Acuña, nicknamed El Huevo (the egg) for his build, is 1.72m tall and while he may not possess the slender physique of modern day players, he more than makes up for it with his ability on the ball and a sweet left foot.

And to think, Inter were in reality out to track his team-mate Oscar Romero, but it was Acuna that stole the limelight in a game with Estudiantes. Born in 1991, he has made 16 appearances between Primera División and Copa Libertadores hitting the back of the net twice and providing 2 assists this season. A good dribbler, he enjoys to foray forward as well as being a threat from set pieces. Being left footed, he has naturally been compared to Alvaro Recoba who Inter fans still remember fondly.

The Nerazzurri are interested and will keep tabs on the player while a staff member behind the scenes at Racing Avellaneda has revealed to Olé: “They came here to watch Oscar Romero, but Acuña left them more impressed." The Argentine ace has a buy-out clause of 8 milion euros which Racing would have to split with the Ferro agency that owns 50% of his contract. The club president however Victor Blanco has issued a hands-off warning, according to Olé: "He is not for sale in the next transfer window. We are not prepared to listen to any offers for him.”

Inter will have their work cut out then if they want to bring their target to European shores.
