Inter raise their offer for German defender & Chelsea target

New Inter coach Luciano Spalletti wants to bring Antonio Rudiger to the San Siro this summer. The Tuscan tactician will be officially unveiled as the new boss of the Nerazzurri this week and one of his former players at Roma is still understood to be his top priority.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that the player has agreed in principle to join up with his former mentor after being offered a five-year deal worth €3M net per season. The problem at the moment remains the 24-year-old’s valuation; Inter are believed to be ready to offer the capital club €25M plus bonus which would make the total fee around €28M but the Giallorossi know the importance of the German international and could hold out for more.

With the club having to ensure their books are balanced by the end of the month to comply with the FIFA Financial Fair-Play regulations imposed on them, it seems highly likely that a deal can still be reached. Also if they off-load Rudiger, it would mean that Belgian international midfielder Radja Nainggolan would stay in the Eternal City.

Should Inter fail to convince Roma however, the pink paper has revealed that they could swoop for Paris Saint-Germain star Thiago Silva. The 32-year-old former AC Milan player is understood to be Spalletti’s choice should Rudiger stay in the capital.
