Inter: Forlan and the failed acquisitions

Injuries, change of coach, different tactical modules, punitive arbitration decisions. Inter’s results crisis has many causes but most of the current situation is down to the performance of some players. Above all the newcomers: Jonathan, Alvarez, Zarate, Castaignos,Poli and Forlan, who arrived in Milan to replace the legendary Samuel Eto'o.

Six new purchases, with performances well below what was expected after a month of play. Jonathan is not Maicon and can not become him, Poli has never been seen due to injury, Castaignos can not be an outside attacker and is the last striker in Rainier’s hierarchy. The South Americans Alvarez, Zarate and Forlan, have been a great disappointment.

In the beginning of this season Ricky Maravilla has been deployed almost everywhere, from external attacker, midfielder and quarter back with poor results. The 12 million spent to get him from Velez seem a risky investment. Zarate has scored an important goal in Moscow but has never been continuous, as he was at Lazio. Finally, there is Forlan, five league games, one goal scored in the knockout of Palermo. Not the numbers you would expect from a champion.
