Inter furious at Benfica over use of prized loanee

Former rising-star Gabigol is about to find his future in serious flux. Unable to find consistent playing time at Benfica, it appears the Portuguese club will return him to Inter Milan in the January transfer period.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly furious at Benfica’s use of their young right-winger. He has only played 148 minutes in four matches, and has only deposited one goal. That’s four fewer than Freddy Adu scored for the storied club. Remarkably, he hasn’t even gone 90 minutes in the weak Portuguese national cup tournament yet.

While he will return to Inter, he will likely find himself on loan once again. The Milanese club find themselves in the thick of the Scudetto race, and don’t have the luxury of experimenting with a young player. They will likely look to send him somewhere else he can get his legs under him. Where, is still yet to be determined.
