Inter vs. Napoli: Player Ratings

The game between Inter and Napoli at San Siro certainly offered the Calcio entertainment we had expected, with both sides going at it with 100%. When it looked like a winner wouldn't arrive, super-sub Lautaro Martinez stepped up to make it 1-0 for the home side, which also was the only goal of the game. Down below are the player ratings.

Inter

Handanovic (6): Made a few good stops and looked solid as usual, but nothing spectacular to highlight.

D'Ambrosio (6): Did his job well defensively and also offered support in attack. Nothing spectacular, but he lived up to the standards of the game.

de Vrij (6,5): Very comfortable on the ball and has really improved Inter's defence since joining from Lazio.

Skriniar (6): Did well along with de Vrij. Ultimately, no goal conceded and that is a win in itself for the defenders.

Asamoah (7): He's been disappointing at times, but today he was very good. Decisive in his challenges and offered support when his teammates got forward.

Valero (6): Was replaced in the second half, but overall he did well in the first half, linking up well with the strikers most of the time.

Brozovic (6,5): Solid display in the middle of the pitch, directing his teammates when going forward.

Joao Mario (6): Was replaced by the goalscorer, though he didn't play poorly. Had a few attempts at goals but evidently failed to score.

Politano (7): Great performance, his strengths were certainly highlighted when he managed to get past Koulibaly from a tough position.

Icardi (7): As usual, he's a danger in the box. Got close several times but couldn't find the back of the net.

Perisic (6): Solid overall, nearly set up Icardi for what would have been a great goal.

Keita Balde (7): Decisive pass to Martinez for the winner, an injection when he was brought in.

Vecino (5.5). Didn't see much of him, really, sort of got lost in the mix.

Lautaro Martinez (8): Fantastic finish at such a crucial time of the game to get the winner.

Napoli

Meret (6): Decent game but he looked a bit unsure at times.

Callejon (6.5): Did well considering he's not really a right-back, though he proved he can play there when needed.

Albiol (5.5): Looked very sluggish and could've cost his team more throughout the game.

Koulibaly (7): Despite the red card, a very good performance from the defender.

Rui (6): Nothing special, was taken off in the second half for Ghoulam.

Zielinski (6,5): Ran tirelessly in the midfield and came close to scoring on one occasion, though Asamoah stopped it on the line.

Allan (7): As always, very strong and intelligent in the midfield.

Hamsik (N/A): Was replaced by Maksimovic due to injury.

Ruiz (6): He tried on numerous occasions, but it wasn't his best game.

Insigne (6): Could've gotten more out of the game, instead, he got sent off in the dying minutes.

Milik (6): An okay performance, though nothing more.

Maksimovic (5.5): Failed to keep out Martinez' winner.

Mertens (6): Didn't have much of an impact, though he tried.
