Is Jose Mauri finally winning Milan over?

It's been a torrid time for Milan. But not for young Diavolo midfielder Jose Mauri.

Having started against Verona and Frosinone, the former Parma player is finally being used more often.

the Argentine recently said that he is “capable of contributing more to the team”, something his agent has spun into a request for more playing time.

Mauri's words, spoken yesterday at the Gentleman Fair Play Awards, echoed with AC Milan fans, who had previously been asking themselves what had happened to one of the club's most interesting – if not high-profile – summer acquisitions.

Mauri, 19, spent the better part of his nine months as a Rossonero on the bench, despite being one of last season's best youngsters in Serie A, even scoring the winner for former club Parma against Juventus at the Tardini in Spring.

Whilst Sinisa Mihajlovic tended to sit the Argentine, new (interim) manager Christian Brocchi has so far invested in him, starting him for two games in a row.

Whilst the rest of the team was roundly booed by the San Siro following last Sunday's embarassing 3-3 draw at home against Frosinone, Mauri was one of the few who were spared by the crowd.

The fans had, however, generally been in his corner: now, even the club is starting to believe in the youngster, which could bode very well for both his – and Milan's – future...
