Italy, Mancini ‘not surprised’ to be among potential Ventura replacement

Former Inter and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has released an interview with Match TV sharing his thoughts on Italy national team and commenting reports linking him with the azzurri job.

The Italian tactician is now in charge of Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia.

“I am not surprised to have been shortlisted as a potential replacement for Ventura. There are other experienced colleagues and I am now happy in St. Petersburg. I’m happy here and my objective is to win the Russian league.”

“I am sad because Italy won’t play the World Cup. I didn’t even know what it meant and I think Italy were a bit unlucky against Sweden. They didn’t score several goal chances, especially in the return leg, but that’s what football is about.”

“Italian football will return at the highest level, there are some interesting youths that are thriving and I think Italy are only going through a tough period, everything will be solved.”
