Swedish newspaper Sport Expressen report that Italy and Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi boarded the Swedish to apologize to the Swedish team for how the crowd at San Siro behaved before the match began.

When the Swedish national anthem was played a majority of the more than 73,000 people present at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano's San Siro district whistled, jeered and booed. When this happened Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon applauded during jeering to show his home fans that he did not agree with this behaviour, but as Sport Expressen reports, Daniele De Rossi took it one step further  after the match.

Former Torino player Pontus Jansson states that "he arrived in our bus, congratulated us for having won before proceeding to apologize for the behavior of some of the Italian players behaved in Stockholm as well as for how the crowd booed during our national anthem."

This gesture was very much appreciated by the entire Swedish team as the current Leeds United defender Jansson continues: "Everyone on the bus were like 'Wow, did this really happen?' It was one of the most beautiful moments I've experienced in a long time. What a gentleman, a real good man and a tru captain" Jansson concluded.

Swedish national team coach Jan Andersson was also very appreciative of how De Rossi behaved stating that "it was a great gesture. This is sport at its finest. Out there it is almost like a little war but afterwards you shake hands. I have a great deal of respect for what De Rossi did."
