Italy, Ventura: "We played a solid second half"

Italy beat Liechtenstein by a 5-0 score line. At the end of the game, Italy national team coach Giampiero Ventura spoke to Rai Sport, here is what he had to say on the game: " I think the first half was useful since when you try too hard, you never succeed. If we arrive to play Spain with too much enthusiasm, we will then lose our concentration. In the first half we had chances but we didn't create them correctly. We didn't take our time to build them properly since we were only focusing on scoring goals. In the second half we really did well as we created many good chances and we finished them off. We were much more concentrated and we did well".

The Azzurri went in to the half-time break up by only one goal (an Insigne strike) but they were able to score 4 goals in the second half. Spain on the other hand beat Macedonia by a 2-1 score. Italy and Spain are still tied a top the Group G standings with 16 points each. Spain now have a +18 goal differential where as Ventura's club are now at +14. Both clubs will face-off come September in Madrid.
