Juve star: We can beat Barcelona

Miralem Pjanic has defended Juventus’ performances in the Champions League, saying that the Bianconeri can “beat Barcelona”.

Things haven’t exactly gone to plan so far, the Old Lady being thrashed on the road by Barcelona (3-0) and failing to earn more than a point against Sporting Lisbon on the road.

They were underwhelming against both the Portuguese side and Olympiakos in home wins, but Pjanic believes that Juve can repeat last season’s quarter-final win over the Blaugrana.

“We’ve already beaten Barcelona once at home and we can do it again,” he told the Gazzetta, “

“When the time comes we’ll give our all, we want to get six points in the last two matches.
Interestingly, the Bosnian international claimed that Juventus’ two “weaker” group rivals are being ‘underestimated’:

“I can assure you it’s hard to come here [to Sporting] and win 3-0 or 4-0, maybe you’re underestimating our opponents because Olympiakos and Sporting are both good teams, they’re good defensively.

“They close up at the back and then break with speed, so if you don’t face them perfectly you’ll find yourself in trouble.

“That’s what happened to us in the first half [against Sporting], but in the second we got a very important goal.”

Juve are currently second in the group, on seven points, three behind Barcelona.
